☀️ July - monthly update

July was another busy and productive month — from chairing key council meetings and raising local issues to speaking up on regional TV and supporting families through council services. Here’s a look at what I’ve been doing on your behalf:

🚌 Taking Council Services to Residents

Held a Mobile Library Street Surgery in Keyingham, followed later in the month by a meeting with the Mobile Library Service at Thorngumbald to discuss how the service can continue to reach more residents and improve accessibility. These sessions remain an excellent way to connect directly with the community.

🏘 Working with Parish Councils

Attended parish council meetings in Long Riston, Withernwick, and Hatfield, ensuring local priorities continue to feed directly into East Riding Council’s work.

🧠 Health, Care & Wellbeing

Took part in the Health, Care & Wellbeing Overview & Scrutiny Committee, focusing on the Adult Social Care Workforce, Customer Experience, and the Adult Unpaid Carers Strategy 2025–2030.

Also liaised with Graham Stuart MP’s office about ongoing grass verge parking concerns in Bilton, pushing for practical solutions that protect safety and green spaces.

👧 Supporting Children & Young People

Joined the Children & Young People Overview & Scrutiny Committee, reviewing the Annual Fostering and Adoption Report and the Holiday Activities & Food (HAF) Programme — supporting initiatives that help children and families during school holidays.

Later appeared on “What TV” to discuss the importance and success of the HAF scheme in East Riding.

🪑 Oversight, Leadership & Local Issues

Chaired the Council Review Panel, maintaining focus on good governance and accountability.
Also met with the Headteacher at Skirlaugh Primary School to discuss overgrown hedges and local safety around the school site.

💛 Championing Women’s Health

Attended a meeting with HEY Endo to explore how the Council can further support awareness and action on endometriosis, following the motion previously brought to Full Council.

🏛 Council & Committee Work

Took part in Planning Committee, Full Council, and Conservative Group meetings, representing the interests of Mid Holderness and contributing to policy discussions at every level.

📞 Casework That Cares

Followed up personally with a local resident to ensure the occupational therapy support I’d helped arrange had been successfully put in place — a reminder that small actions often make the biggest difference.
